osteopath

Megan our osteopath here at Back2Balance talks about pushing yourself outside your comfort zone and encouraging yourself to do things you wouldn’t normally do. Megan talks about how she recently pushed herself out of her comfort zone.

Comfort zone

How often do you push yourself out of your comfort zone ?

paragraph

It could be anything from doing a sky dive, approaching and talking to someone new, picking up a spider, trying a new class at the gym or even just going to the gym, doing something on your own, public speaking or even going to see an osteopath or chiropractor about your back pain!!

Doing something that makes you feel a bit nervous inside, or maybe it even evokes thoughts in your head that makes you think nooo I couldn’t or can’t do that.

But then DOING IT ANYWAY!!

paragraph

Pushing yourself is sooo important, because great things happen when you do. That thing that you’ve never done because you have never thought you could, you do it and how happy do you feel after ? You feel so proud of yourself and it makes you feel like you could take on the world. I believe you can take on the world. You can do anything that you want to as long as you put your mind to it!
growth
paragraph
When you succeed at something out of your comfort zone and realise it wasn’t such a big thing after all. What happens is that your comfort zone expands a little and all of a sudden the things you used to think are scary, become part of your daily life. Then there will be new things that make you feel a bit nervous but these things are bigger. See when you push yourself you move onto bigger and better things. What happens is you GROW!!
paragraph
Life is all about growth, you should feel you are constantly learning and developing as a person. Don’t be stagnant just because those little thoughts in your head tell you you can’t. Hear those thoughts and think IM GOING TO DO IT ANYWAY!!!!
paragraph
You may be scared to do something because you are scared of failing. To win you have to fail. So don’t be afraid to fail because no one is going to say you’re rubbish because you tried. Failure should only make you more hungry to try again and complete your goal.
paragraph
Start off small, a little thing one at a time. When you realise that the little things that you have done were easy and not as bad as you thought, move onto a bigger thing and then a bigger thing. Next thing you know you are doing things you never thought you would and your life is better for it.
  paragraph
Try to figure out, whether your reasons for not doing something are rational. For instance my fear of spiders, it’s not rational. No spiders in England are going to hurt me. Therefore it’s a silly fear. One which I am trying to get over. I actually had a resident spider living in my room for the last week or so. Normally I’d have to get rid of them somehow (don’t worry I never kill them) but this time I let him chill and he caused no problems!
    paragraph
push yourself
As some of my clients may know, I am off to Vegas next week to compete in a fitness competition called hyrox. This is the reason I am writing this blog. To say this out of my comfort zone would be an understatement!! I’ve never done anything on my own, so to fly out to a different country and make friends with lots of new people is crazy for me.
It took me ages to decide whether to do it, and my decision was influenced by friends, a few of my lovely clients, and the fire inside me that pushes me to do new things for which I am very grateful for. I’m glad I decided to do it, as I know that great things happen when you push yourself out of your comfort zone.
paragraph
I also wanted to say that one of my clients was inspired by my decision to go to Vegas. He has been afraid of flying for a very long time, but wanted to go to Scotland with his daughter. My client said to me, ‘Megan if you can do it then so can I’. He booked his flight to Scotland and he is there now. I know he will be having the best time.
So next time you hear those little voices in your head say nope not doing that, or no I can’t. Replace those thoughts with yes I bloody can!!!!!
